Gotta Find a Home: Conversations with Street People Book 1 by Dennis Cardiff is a 317 page book of his personal experiences. He began with his earliest contact with some homeless people in 1968 on his way to work. Cardiff shares his backstory then flash forwards to 2010, giving you a great understanding and introduction as to why he wrote the book. I hope this, and his subsequent books, get the notice they deserve. It is a very touching collection of events that he has recorded.
Cardiff became a volunteer at the Shepherd, a place that offered free meals. He recalls several stories during that time and has compiled them by dates. Cardiff was very candid and compassionate in his story and writing. Something we can all learn from. He is even donating a portion of the books proceeds to help the homeless.
