It has been suggested to me that Gotta Find a Home: Conversations with Street People would be a valuable tool to those in the helping professions, dealing with homeless and street people. To them I offer this book free of charge. Please send me your email address for a Kindle version or your mailing address for a paperback. I may be contacted in private at dacardiff@gmail.com

I should explain in advance that the conversations are choppy, interruptions are constant. Often I was trying to listen to two or more conversations at the same time. I don’t describe the speakers, or use their real names, for privacy purposes. Sometimes, I don’t know their names. Even their closest friends don’t know their surnames. This becomes evident in emergencies, when it is necessary to contact the next of kin. The names they go by are assigned and may change on a whim: names like, Sausage Fingers, Lonely Heart, Rhino, Sparky, Uncle Peter and Custard. When I asked Sparky how Custard got his name he replied, “He looks like a Custard.”

Since its publication June 5, 2014 Gotta Find a Home: Conversations with Street People has received 47 – 4.7 Star Goodreads ratings and 63 – 4.6 Star Amazon reviews. It has been in the Amazon.ca list of Top 100 Paid in Kindle Store since publication, and has risen to #1 in both the categories of social Sciences – Poverty and Current Events – Poverty. I state this not to brag, but to inform. It’s not my book, the words aren’t mine, it’s a forum for the homeless and other street people to express their opinions to the world at large. I merely transcribed their words into print. Revised December 29, 2014: http://ow.ly/K9XQT
