7 April 2015

“Good morning, Chuck. How was your Easter weekend?”

“Same old, same old. I was out and made some money. I had a few nice meals in restaurants, just to get away from my own cooking. I met my friends for coffee, as usual…

“I went to the pharmacy yesterday to get my heart pills. I said to the pharmacist, ‘I can’t figure out why my energy level is so low.’ He asked, ‘What are you eating?’ I said, ‘I try to eat good meals, I may slip every once in a while, but I try to eat lots of greens, like lettuce, broccoli, spinach, kale…’ He said, ‘You’re going about it all wrong. A lot of green leafy vegetables are high in VITAMIN K that decreases the effectiveness of Warfarin (Coumadin).’ So all this time I’ve been eating the wrong things and thinking I was eating healthily. I’ll cut back on the spinach, but not the kale. I like that too much.

“I have to keep my eye out for that blind guy with the dog. Goldie goes wild when she sees that black poodle. I  try to make sure she’s in my lap where I can control her.”

I said, “Take care, Chuck. Maybe I’ll see you tomorrow if the weather cooperates.”

“Bye.”
