But if you’re a woman living on the street, having a period isn’t a hassle – it’s a nightmare. Because if you can’t muddle together enough money for food or shelter, it is unlikely you’ll be able to afford sanitary towels or tampons.

It would be cool if companies like this (http://gladrags.com/) could donate reusable, washable pads to women without a home. Would be an interesting program. Especially since they are much more effective than disposables.
